A TikTok with 0 views is most often still being processed or reviewed, which can take from a few minutes to a day. The other common causes are a private account or private video, a restriction after a guidelines violation, an age or region setting, a very new account, or a network problem during upload. Check them in that order.
Check these in order
1. The video is still processing or under review
Every upload is checked before it is distributed. Usually this takes minutes. During busy periods, or when the system sends a video for closer review, it can take up to a day. If the video was posted in the last hour, wait.
2. The video or account is private
Open the video, tap the three dots, then Privacy settings, and check Who can watch this video. Then check Settings and privacy, then Privacy for the account as a whole. A private account's videos are shown only to approved followers.
3. The video was restricted
If a video breaks a community guideline, TikTok may remove it or make it ineligible for the For You feed. You will usually get a notification. Check Settings and privacy, then Support, then Account status (menu names vary slightly between app versions) for a list of violations and an option to appeal.
4. Audience controls are on
Videos marked for viewers aged 18 and over, or restricted by location, reach far fewer people. Check the options on the post screen.
5. The account is brand new
New accounts sometimes see slow or no distribution for the first few videos while the system has nothing to go on. Complete the profile, watch and interact with videos in your topic for a few days, and keep posting.
6. The upload failed quietly
A weak connection can leave a video half-uploaded. Check Drafts and your profile grid. If the video looks stuck, save it to your device, delete the post and upload again on a stable connection.
7. Reused or unoriginal content
Videos with another app's watermark, or duplicates of videos already on TikTok, are not eligible for recommendation. Export a clean file from your editor.
8. An app or system problem
Outages happen. Update the app, check whether other creators are reporting the same problem, and try again later.
If views stall at a low number instead
A video that reaches 200 to 500 views and stops was tested with a first group and did not hold them. That is a content result, not a technical fault. Open the video's analytics and look at the retention graph; the point where the line falls is what to change next time. See how the For You page works.
What not to do
- Do not repost the same file repeatedly. Duplicates can be treated as spam.
- Do not use apps that promise to "unfreeze" an account in exchange for your login.
- Do not delete your whole account. A new account starts with the same uncertainty.
Frequently asked questions
How long does TikTok review take?
Usually a few minutes. It can take up to 24 hours when a video is sent for closer review or during busy periods.
Is my TikTok account shadowbanned?
TikTok does not use that term, but it does limit recommendation of content that breaks its guidelines. Account status in Settings lists any violations and lets you appeal.
