Post on TikTok one to two hours before your followers are most active. Find that in TikTok Studio under Analytics, in the Followers tab, where Most active times shows the hours and days your followers were on the app. Times in the chart may be shown in UTC, so convert them before you schedule.
Why timing matters less on TikTok, and still matters
Most TikTok views come from the For You feed, which can keep distributing a video for days. That makes TikTok more forgiving than platforms that depend on followers seeing a post at once.
Timing still helps in one way. The first group of viewers tests the video. If your own followers are online, they are part of that first group, and followers tend to watch longer than strangers.
Find your active hours
- Open your profile, tap the menu and choose TikTok Studio.
- Open Analytics, then the Followers tab.
- Scroll to Most active times. Switch between hours and days.
Follower analytics appear once the account has at least 100 followers. Note the time zone used by the chart; if it shows UTC, convert it to your local time.
Test two slots
- Choose the busiest hour and one hour two to three hours earlier.
- Post similar videos in each slot for two weeks.
- For each video, compare views after 24 hours and the average watch time.
- Keep the better slot and test it against another.
Judge by average watch time as well as views. A slot that brings fewer but more attentive viewers will grow the account faster.
Rules of thumb while you have no data
- Evenings in your audience's time zone are a reasonable first guess.
- If your audience is in a different country, post for their evening, not yours.
- Post at the same times each week. Regular viewers learn when to expect you.
- One good video a day is plenty. Several a day only helps if each is strong.
Scheduling
On desktop, the TikTok Studio website lets you schedule a video up to ten days ahead. Use it when your audience's peak falls outside your waking hours.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one best time to post on TikTok for everyone?
No. Published best times are averages across many accounts and time zones. Your followers' active hours in TikTok Studio are a better guide.
How often should I post on TikTok?
A steady schedule you can keep, such as four to seven videos a week, works better than bursts followed by silence.
