Is it safe to buy YouTube views? What YouTube's rules say

YouTube prohibits artificial views and can remove them. What that means in practice, what purchased views cannot do, and what to check before ordering.

Quick answer

Buying YouTube views does not expose your password or payment details when the seller asks only for a public video link. It is, however, against YouTube's fake engagement policy: YouTube can remove views it considers artificial, they do not count toward monetization, and repeated or serious cases can lead to action on the channel. Treat a purchased view count as a display number, not as progress.

What YouTube's policy says

YouTube's fake engagement policy does not allow anything that artificially increases views, likes, comments or other metrics, whether through automated systems or by serving videos to unsuspecting viewers. In practice YouTube:

  • audits view counts and removes views it judges invalid,
  • excludes those views and their watch time from Partner Program thresholds,
  • can remove content, and can issue a strike or terminate a channel in serious or repeated cases.

No seller can change these rules, and no honest seller will promise that purchased views are immune to them.

Two different meanings of "safe"

Safe for your account access and money. This depends on the seller. You are safe on this count when the order needs only a public video link, never a password, and when payment goes through a recognised method.

Safe for the channel. This depends on YouTube. The realistic outcomes are that the views stay, or that some or all are removed in an audit. Action against a channel is associated with large-scale or repeated artificial activity, and the risk rises with a channel that is monetized or applying to be.

What purchased views cannot do

  • They do not count toward monetization. The Partner Program counts valid public watch hours only. See YouTube monetization requirements.
  • They do not make YouTube recommend the video. Recommendations follow how real viewers respond: whether they click and how long they stay.
  • They do not bring comments, subscribers or sales by themselves.

A view count on a video is a form of social proof: a visitor may be more willing to press play on a video that others appear to have watched. That is the whole effect. See what social proof does and does not do.

If you decide to order

  1. Give a public video link only. Leave at once if a seller asks for your Google password or a verification code.
  2. Read the package terms before paying: start time, speed, whether a refill is included and for how long. On Boostsy these are listed on each YouTube views package.
  3. Start with a small quantity and keep it in proportion to the channel. A video with 200000 views on a channel with 40 subscribers convinces nobody.
  4. Do not order for a video in a channel that is under monetization review.
  5. Expect that the count can fall. A refill, where the package has one, replaces lost quantity; it is not a guarantee against removal. See my count dropped after delivery.

Alternatives that count

YouTube's own advertising places your video in front of real viewers who can choose to keep watching. Collaborations, Shorts that lead to a long video, and better titles and thumbnails raise views that YouTube treats as valid. If views have fallen, start with why YouTube views drop.

Frequently asked questions

Can YouTube detect purchased views?

YouTube audits views continuously and removes those it considers invalid. No seller can guarantee that purchased views will not be removed.

Do purchased views count toward the 4000 watch hours?

No. Only valid public watch hours count, and YouTube excludes watch time it classes as artificial.

Will my channel be banned for buying views?

The most common outcome is that some or all of the views are removed. YouTube's policy allows strikes or termination for serious or repeated fake engagement, so the risk is real, and it is higher for monetized channels.
