Social media client target URL validation worksheet
Check the exact public destination before scheduling content or submitting a promotion order. Record whether it opens without login, matches the intended post or profile and satisfies the selected service's stated target requirements. A general URL check does not establish that every service accepts it.
Your working document
Complete the record
| Check | How to inspect | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Compare the open page with the named post or account | A working link can still be the wrong target |
| Visibility | Open a public view without the owner's session | An owner preview can hide a login restriction |
| Object type | Check profile versus individual post or video | Service requirements may differ by object |
| Redirect | Inspect the final destination | A short link can point elsewhere after editing |
| Requirement | Read the exact selected service's current conditions | Platform matching alone is insufficient |
Check before sharing
- Copy the final URL from the checked destination.
- Do not include passwords, access tokens or private preview links.
- Recheck after a post is deleted, made private or replaced.
- Use the selected service's actual conditions for an order target.
Use the worksheet in practice
A website campaign URL and a social-post promotion target are different objects. UTM tags are useful for an owned website destination where the analytics system recognises them; do not add them to a service target without checking its requirements.
Record the failure plainly, such as 'opens a profile instead of the intended video'. Avoid an unexplained pass score that gives the publishing team no way to reproduce the check.
