# Social media monthly reporting template Separate work delivered, platform observations and attributable business outcomes. Use the same definitions and date boundaries for comparisons. Explain gaps or changed conditions beside the figures instead of treating every rise as a result of the team's work. Client and reporting month: Report owner: Reporting time zone and extraction dates: Agreed objective: Deliverables completed and links: Deliverables held or carried forward: Platform metric definitions and sources: Current period results: Comparable previous period results: Paid activity and spend recorded separately: Enquiries or orders with attribution method: Untracked outcomes and data gaps: Changes in offer, audience or measurement: What the evidence supports: Next actions, owners and due dates: ## Complete the record "Report component","Useful content","Avoid" "Delivery","Actual assets and publication references","Counting drafts as published work" "Platform results","Metric, source, date window and value","Mixing reach with impressions" "Business outcomes","Defined enquiries or orders and source evidence","Assuming every order came from social media" "Comparison","Equivalent period and noted changes","Comparing seven days with a full month" "Actions","Specific next decision and its owner","Repeating a generic promise of growth" ## Check before sharing - [ ] Reconcile the deliverable list with actual publications. - [ ] Keep paid and organic figures identifiable. - [ ] Show absolute values alongside percentage changes. - [ ] Flag missing records before drawing a conclusion. ## Use the worksheet in practice A fictional example: 12 recorded enquiries this month versus 8 last month is four more enquiries, or a 50% increase. If the recording method changed, the percentage alone is not a fair performance conclusion. Use an appendix for metric definitions and detailed post rows. Keep the main report focused on the client's decisions, and retain source extracts internally so the figures can be checked.
